Malaysian Pottery

Beginning during the Neolithic or the New Stone Age, Malaysian ceramic was first made for everyday use and only later it was used for decoration. In order to create shapes which are both artistic and unique, the clay is kneaded, processed, carved/ engraved with various designs, smoked and fired.
Among the most known Malaysian pottery are famous Perak’s Sayong Pottery. Perak Sayong Pottery or is it is better known-The Sayong Gourd, is used to store water. It’s black colour has proved to be a source of attraction throughout the ages.
